About

What is Contemporary Americana Art?

Contemporary Americana Art explores the spirit of American culture through a modern lens. It is rooted in the familiar—folk traditions, historical motifs, cultural symbols—but reshaped through the eyes of today’s artists. This genre blends nostalgia with critique, reverence with reinvention. It draws from the fabric of daily life, regional identities, pop culture, political commentary, and handmade traditions—often with a raw, honest, and deeply personal touch.

This website is a curated space that celebrates those voices—artists who are reimagining Americana, challenging assumptions, and keeping the soul of American visual storytelling alive and relevant.

The Curator: Adrienne Fritze

I’m Adrienne Fritze—artist, storyteller, Artrepreneur, and the curator behind Contemporary Americana Art. I’ve spent decades immersed in the arts, not just as a creator, but as a thinker and connector of ideas, people, and histories. My work is rooted in story—personal, collective, and cultural—and how those stories shape the way we see ourselves and the world around us.

As founder of RemarkableArts and creator of immersive experiences through Black Ink Mysteries™, I explore the intersection of visual art, narrative, and transformation. My creative practice spans collage, digital manipulation, assemblage, and workshop facilitation—all of which reflect my drive to unpack meaning, memory, and myth in modern life.

My portfolio includes:

  • Journey to Freedom – A visceral, mixed media series about personal healing and transformation, rooted in my experiences working with incarcerated individuals.
  • A’s England – A haunting, manipulated photo series capturing the layered textures of place and perception.
  • rdEVOLUTION – Where fine art meets tech, this series explores transformation through abstract and symbolic forms.
  • Extreme Collages™ – A signature style that combines found materials, storytelling, and social commentary with bold texture and form.

I created this site to celebrate other artists who are pushing the boundaries of what “Americana” means today—those blending nostalgia with critique, honoring roots while questioning legacy.

Through Contemporary Americana Art, I invite you to dive into the vibrant, sometimes gritty, always meaningful world of modern American storytelling—through the hands and eyes of remarkable artists across the country.

Thanks for being here. Let’s discover these stories together.

This blog is a space for conversation. It’s where we dig deeper into the “why” behind the work, trace threads through history, and explore how today’s artists are reinterpreting symbols, stories, and traditions to reflect the complexities of American life now.

Expect artist interviews, studio visits, essays on aesthetics and meaning, and the occasional musing on life, art, and what connects us.

So grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair—let’s talk art, story, and the American imagination.

What We Keep: Found Materials, Memory, and Meaning in Americana Art

I’ve always been drawn to the things we hold onto. The small, quiet objects tucked into drawers or forgotten in basements—the rusted tool, the faded photograph, the scrap of lace, the note scribbled on the back of a receipt. These are the kinds of things that tell stories. And in the world of Contemporary Americana, …
